Thinking of Painting Your Furniture?
Those of you familiar with our shop may have noticed the beautiful merchant’s chest in our window over the last few weeks. It is a super example of the fabulous Farrow & Ball colours and demonstrates how painting furniture can bring a new lease of life and style to pieces that are functional but a little dull! The piece has been painted by Clare who is a furniture painter based in Dorset. Her business ‘Clare a Beau’s’ grew from her passion for creating unique pieces & reinventing unloved furniture and has been growing since 2013. We asked her to give us her top tips for painting furniture: My tips for using F&B : Make sure you prepare your surface well : Use the F&B primers (they work in harmony with the paints) : sand between coats to ensure the perfect finish : Doing one more coat than required gives that depth & personality…you won’t regret it. : stand back and admire your hard work This 13 drawer merchants chest started its life as a heavily orange waxed piece and lacked lustre. I used 14 different colours on this chest, each one carefully thought out. Using different knobs adds that quirkiness that we all desire. I love using Farrow & Ball paints, they are fabulous to work with and have an outstanding range of colours to choose from. This piece is For Sale so please get in touch. Much love Clare Xx
